Richard MauroI was born on July 21, 1945 in a small-town in Nevada. After World War II ended, my family moved to Colorado, where I grew up as the oldest of six children.

In 1963, I graduated from high-school and migrated to the east coast to Brown University in Providence RI, where I graduated with honors in 1967.

In 1965, I married my high-school sweetheart, Lavonne Madden, who remains my wife to date, and who has endured the ups and downs in my life.

After Brown, I went to the University of Denver College of Law, where I graduated in 1970, Summa Cum Laude, and with a number of academic honors.

I was a founder of two successful businesses, a law firm and an investment management company, which were based in Denver, but operated in the international commercial marketplace.

For the past 35+ years of my business and professional life, I have been in various aspects of the equity and debt financing markets, deal-making (e.g. Corporate and property acquisitions), and entrepreneurial pursuits (for my own account and the accounts of others).

Parcel, Mauro et al. was founded in 1985 by Randy Parcel and me with six attorneys. The firm grew to 80 lawyers and over 100 staff personnel. I was president and CEO of the firm in the latter 1980’s and early 1990’s, and was instrumental in guiding it’s growth from a boutique law firm to a major firm with a national and international practice.

In 1992, I co-founded Castle Group, an investment management company which focused on investments in the mining business. Castle Group was comprised of mining and finance professionals, and was selected to manage a fund sponsored by the NM Rothschild group and the International Finance Corporation, an affiliate of the World Bank. This fund invested in emerging markets and enjoyed significant investment returns. Castle Group was disbanded in 1997 due to a drastic reduction in the price of gold.

With the dissolution of Castle Group, I resumed the practice of law while continuing to look for entrepreneurial pursuits. I retired in 2003 because of number of medical problems (the most significant of which is Parkinson’s disease, which was diagnosed initially in 1986). I have been recruited out of retirement by Alan Simon and Mark Semenoff to be an advisor on legal and business matters.

I have served on the boards of directors of numerous domestic and foreign public and private companies primarily in the gold mining business.

I was president and CEO of Sundance Oil and Gas Exploration Company in 1985 and have served as a director of the Denver Athletic Club.

I have been listed in the Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law for a number of years.

I have one daughter, Lindsay, a son-in-law, Dennis, and three wonderful grandchildren Asia, Tucker and Lucy.
