Xiha Life, which bills itself as a multilingual and multicultural social network, on Tuesday announced $1 million in seed funding.

Sunnyvale-based Xiha said the round was led by Veraventure, which was joined by angel investors and the company founders.

Xiha also said that Jyri Engestrom, former product manager for Mountain View-based Google Inc. and a co-founder of Jaiku, is joining the board.

“Simultaneous, real-time translation allows Xiha citizens to share travel tips, pictures, music, videos, games, knowledge and personal perspectives,” the company said.
